Races - Upcoming & Completed!

Upcoming Races for 2014!

Saint Pat's 5K, - March 8th in Providence, RI
http://www.stpats5k.com/
Did this one last year with a group of friends, and plan on gathering them all together this year as well - with new faces! Very cool long sleeve shirts and a kick ass medal are just another reason why this is a MUST DO again.

Muckfest, Boston - April 26th in Boston, MA
http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/PageServer?pagename=HOM_MUCK_MuckFest_info_boston
Believe it or not, I'm actually going to participate in an obstacle course in the mud. Yup! Me and a team of my friends "The Knockouts!" have decided to make this happen finally. Of course only today did I realize it is a week before my half marathon...oops...looks like I'll be going easy on those obstacles!

United Healthcare Half Marathon May 4th in Providence, RI
http://www.uhctriplecrown.com/
Ready or not I've decided to tackle my SECOND half marathon in the Spring. I'm going to push for a PR, because I KNOW I can do it!

Completed Races 2013

Citizens Pell Bridge Run November 10th at 6:30am - Jamestown/Newport, RI
http://www.pellbridgerun.com/
This one was a BIG one on my race bucket list! You've got to check the link out...I have (or HAD!) a fear of bridges, BIG bridges...so what better way to conquer that fear? I ran it! Total distance (approx): 4.20 miles, Time (approx): 45 minutes

The Color Run - October 20th at 9am - Providence, RI
http://thecolorrun.com/providence/
This one was a last minute registration...but had wanted to do this one for a while. Sported a neon green tutu, and white shirt and socks...which were anything but white when done! This race was not timed nor miles marked...my first race that wasn't a race. It was, brace yourself, just for fun! And I had a blast!

Providence Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon - September 29th at 7am, Gaspee Street in front of the State House, Providence (bling involved!).
http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/providence
Absolutely amazing experience. Gorgeous route through Providence (historic areas too!). It was a HUGE and emotional experience to complete this half marathon with nearly zero half marathon training to fuel me. To read about my full recap - check it out here! Time: 2hrs 44 min

Girls on the Run 10k –June 1st @ 9:00am – The Temple of Music, Roger Williams Park, Providence
http://www.trimomprod.com/girls_on_the_run..php
I originally was concerned about the distance of 6.2 miles because I had not run that distance in a couple months (due to knee pain). However, it turned out the distance was not really the issue. My legs felt strong, solid and ready to roll. However, the heat on this day was very HOT. In an effort to beat dehydration I broke into breif walks 3 or 4 times after water stops. This was a tough one. I placed 45 out of 65 with an approximate finish time of 1hr 17min. Far from my best run, BUT thrilled I stuck with it and crossed that finish line smiling and running! Time: 1hr 17 min

Cox Communications/National Grid 5K - May 10th - Roger Williams Park in Providence, RI
It was a last minute decision to register. My boyfriend was out of town for the weekend and what better thing to do than to participate in a race?! It was no PR breaker, but it still was wonderful...but oy! those hills! Time: 32:59 Placed 183 out of 340 runners. (and my bib number was 183!?!)

Rocky Point 5k - May 4th - 155 Rocky Point Avenue in Warwick, RI http://www.rockypoint5k.com/ - I was so excited for this one! Rocky Point was an amusement park in RI that I frequented as a kid and a teen. A million memories, but the park went into disrepair and was closed permanently. The rides were sold off to other parks, and the grounds locked away from the community. This race actually ran the perimeter and surrounding neighborhood of the park (and extend out). I ran this race with my my boyfriend's youngest daughter (age 12). We did the run/walk method and it was an overwelming success. She said "I feel so accomplished" after finishing the race. AND? We were on the local news crossing the finish line! Time: 43:00 min (approx for our walk/run)

Run with Jess Jelly Bean 10k
Anytime between March 20th – 31st (Virtual Race)
http://www.runwithjess.com/2013/01/3rd-annual-jelly-bean-race.html
After not being sure I would be able to do the 10k distance (due to knee/leg issues that persisted) and almost changing to a 5k division I stood strong and did my first virtual 10K! I also got a very cool jelly bean race medal (love the bling!). It was a milestone for me and one I won't soon forget. Time: 1:06:20

Second Annual Anywhere5k - March 24th (Virtual race!)
http://anywhere5k.com/ After having an "off" two weeks due to sore/painful legs & general crappiness, I ventured back out for a virtual 5k. The result was far better than I expected considering I had experience a set back. Finished 64 out of 109 runners. Time: 32:49

St Pat’s Day 5k – March 9th Rhode Island State House on Smith St, Providence
http://www.stpats5k.com/ Loved this one...it was my first "live" run/race since October 2012 (all my others have been virtual to this point!). Got a great group of people together, walkers AND runners, newbies and experienced - just a beautiful day. My boyfriend and his two daughters walked it while I ran. And we all got medals - it was my first bling! Best PR to date for a 5K! Time: 30:49

Valentine’s 5k – February 14, 15 or 16th. Virtual Race! (bling involved!). This one will be remembered! Fastest PR to date for 5K! Results were posted and I placed 34th out of 140 runners! A big accomplishment for me! http://www.fortheloveofthekids.com/ Time: 31:02

Anywhere5K Run Fur Fun Virtual 5K Run - January 27th - Turned lemon into lemonade! Was too sick to do my usual 5 mile weekend run, so instead submitted the 3.1 miles that I did run for this virtual race. I placed 52nd out of 90 runners...not too shabby considering I was fighting off impending voodoo flu-like illness! Time: 33:22

Completed Races 2012

New Year's Resolution Run 5K (virtual race!)- December 31st 2012 - In 20 degree weather, after a snowfall, I STILL completed this. My time suffered due to potential slipping and falling, but it was a great way to close out 2012 and welcome in 2013! Click here to read my entry from that day...pics and everything! Time: 36:38

Free to Breathe 5K - October 20th 2012 - My very first race EVER. And I ran all 3.1 glorious miles in memory of my grandfather and my beautiful mom, Paula. Click here to read about my experience with this race. It was life changing. Time: 39:47
