Own Your Body

After being down for the count with a stomach bug, i've since bounced back. And I think, because I've been taking such care of myself, my recovery was MUCH quicker than if I hadn't been working out. Another benefit. Hell yeah!

Yesterday I posted up some progress photos...and when i look at them, i can't connect that my body actually has changed that much. I mean...that, to quote my trainer Holly..."is a HUGE difference". And the strange thing is, no body knew how out of shape I was before. I hid that belly and and back rolls VERY well. An artform really. Most of it has to do with posture, how you dress and how you carry yourself. And to be honest, up until a month ago...i was happy to just settle into the body I had. But as I've mentioned before, 6 months into my 42 year, the body shifted...eating and living as I had all along was not enough to stop the bloating, the tired achy limbs, gravity's grip on my underarm fat...ha!...i laugh because it still seems funny to me, that no matter what, no matter how thin you've been your whole life. And i mean my whole life...i have not weighed more than 100 pounds (mind you i'm 4'11). But this isn't about weight or being "thin". The term is relative. I mean what is thin to one, is not to another.

I was 100 pounds in that "before" pic. I look back now...and it mine as well been 200. No muscle tone or strength, no nourishing my body with protein...going hours and hours and hours without eating. I was the classic OPPOSITE of what most women do. I never eat junk food, fast food and pretty much stayed away from white carb loaded stuff and drink tons of water. I wasn't even a fan of candy, chocolate or soda. And yet...there was my body...in that before pic. EVERYTHING was changing despite all these things. Changing for the worse.

It felt as if I had no control.

And then I realized.

OWN your body. OWN it. Nourish it. Care for it. Make it strong.

And after a month of doing that I see "HUGE" changes. And i'm just getting started. I have a looongg way to go. I'm still struggling with diet...feeding myself regularly, insuring i've got enough protein in me...i thought diet would be easy for me and the workouts would be hard. Turned out its the other way around.

Its great to learn new things about yourself, isn't it?

I leave you with this thought for the weekend, because i'm finally believing it and understanding it...
