Bragging vs Pride

So, as usual, when i get excited about something I blab it all over Facebook. I do, I blab on Facebook, I blab it through Pinterest, I post pics through Instagram...you name it. I blab it on there. And the thing is, I've been on the other side of this...I've watched friends of mine find this new passion for fitness, seen the pictures, the motivational quotes, the links to healthy foods and protein drinks. I've been on the other side of that screen and thought "UGH, shut up already. Good for you but geeesshhh...".

And then, I became one of them.

The realization that I'm now one of the very people I chastised from behind my laptop screen is the reason I've decided to start to actively use this blog today. To use it as my fitness diary, well...not exactly a diary. Its more like a public journal of my experience and struggles and random thoughts on life related to making my body better after 40.

And after all, you know its time to move your public statements of joy over getting fit off Facebook when people are threatening to block you from their newsfeed (and i see no issue with that. i've blocked lots of annoying people from my feeds!). Instantly though, I became concerned, did it appear I was bragging about my happiness and feeling fit? And after some thought, I came to the conclusion...

NO. I am not.

I am PROUD. I am excited! I am not bragging. There is a difference. I am not pushing my love for how I feel on to others. In fact, it is simply making me a happier, more confident person. And when you are happy, generally you want to share. And Facebook is the mecca of sharing. That said, I am not sharing photos of hard bodies and chastising friends for not looking that way, hell, I don't look that way! I'm not in all caps yelling PUT DOWN THE PIZZA (i love pizza!)...what I am doing is keeping a log of my successes and temporary failures. I'm tracking it, daily, because I need to and more importantly - because I WANT to. And because its fun. Yes, I said fun.

So, now, I have landed here. In blog land. Most of my entries won't be this long and wordy (i'm a writer by nature, can ya tell?). I hope to use this more as a way of keeping track of all i'm doing, learning, and then sharing it with you.

And yes, I will post inspirational/motivational quotes and the occasional progress pic.

you've been warned :)
